Bali classical doors prospective in foreign markets

Up till now, the demand of Bali classical doors with carving motifs are still prospective to foreign markets. Beside to USA, Europe, and Asia the products are also shipped to Malaysia. Up to these days Malaysian costumers made to order the product reach 10 pieces every month. “In this time, this business is still promising compared with previously. However, the material prices of the product are expensive. In the end of 2006 the price of jati wood as the main material of the product increase from Rp 7 million become Rp 8 million per m3,” a craftsman, I Ketut Wartika stated on Monday in Gianyar.

He added, although the material prices are expensive, but this not makes the demand of the product increase too. During this time, the demand of the product is still stable. According to Wartika, the craftsmen create the products with several size and carving motifs. Normally, the products with the size more than 2 meters is interested by the costumers that is offered with the price reach Rp 4 million per pieces.

He stated, the stock of the material decrease that make we are difficult to create the product. To anticipating the financial loss we create other handicrafts with the Balinese motifs and designs.“Wartika explained, beside create carving door, we also produce Balinese traditional houses, which is products trade to local and foreign markets. The demand of the products are also stable particularly the product with eight wooden pillars that is offered with the price reach Rp 60 million to Rp 85 million per unit.
